Looking for Astronomy Guest Speakers

I, Terri, the Events Coordinator for PAS, am looking for assistance in locating, scheduling, and
planning our 2009 PAS Guest Speaker Line-up.
Do you have a speaker you would love to hear from at our club meetings?
Send me some ideas. Or, maybe you wish to do an astronomy related presentation???
Email me today at Events@pasaz.org.
I will make the arrangements and get the news out about upcoming PAS Speakers.
Your help is appreciated!

JUPITER AT ITS BRIGHTEST this week

Space Weather News for July 9, 2008
http://spaceweather.com

JUPITER AT ITS BRIGHTEST: Jupiter reaches maximum brilliance
this week, on July 9th, when it makes its closest approach to Earth
for all of 2008. At sunset, look low and southeast for a beacon of light
brighter than any star. That is Jupiter rising for an all-night transit
across the southern sky. During this time of closest approach,
Jupiter makes a wonderful target for backyard telescopes. Even
small telescopes reveal the planet's cloud belts, its four largest
moons, and the Great Red Spot, an anti-cyclone twice as wide
as Earth. Just a few days ago, the Great Red Spot ran over a
sibling, the Little Red Spot, and may have destroyed the smaller
storm. Amateur images of the collision are featured on today's
edition of http://spaceweather.com .

BOOKMAN'S TELESCOPE WORKSHOP 7/20

BOOKMAN'S FREE TELESCOPE WORKSHOP

We have our first RSVP for the Bookman's Class on July 20th.
Volunteers are needed.

Please let me know you are attending by email or
RSVP on the PAS Website (preferred method if you are signed up on the site).

Currently we do not have a speaker for that class. If you would like to present something on
astronomy for 30 minutes to 1.5 hours in length, please let me know so we can schedule
you. I was hoping to have a speaker to draw in more public to this event.

Remember, our Bookman's events end at the end of this year, until Bookman's is done
renovating its back room. And they have said that they may not have a back room after
the renovation for us to borrow. So, we have to consider that we will use their
facilities as much as we can up to the end of the year, or when they close it off from use,
and then plan other locations for similar events. So, this is one of the best times
to do a test run on a presentation you might want to present for PAS or other purposes
on astronomy. We welcome anyone wishing to do a presentation. Maybe even 2
smaller presentations from 2 PAS members.

Email me today if you would like to present something on this date.

The next Bookman's class after this one is on 9/21, no speaker is needed that day,
as the class is only 2 hours long.

Then we have 11/16 in which Mike is doing a presentation for that class.

I really would like to have someone do a presentation. Please let me know you are interested.
Thank you so much....

And come volunteer to help those in need of learning how to use their telescopes.
Your help, input, and attendance is desired and needed!!!

Bookman's events are indoors. They happen RAIN OR SHINE.

Terri, Events Coordinator

PS: A copy of this email is going out to the PAS membership and into the News and Announcements on the PAS website. If you get duplicates, it is because you are
on those other lists as well.
